Passing Thoughts
I made a phone call just now and was put on hold by their automated system. I couldn't help but let my mind wander while I listened to the music for a LONG time!! Actually, I finally hung up.
I wondered who was playing the music. Then I realized that it might be just one person on a digital piano that was making what sounded like an orchestra. Who would ever believe that someone would make a living out of making music for elevators and automated phone systems. Have you ever met anyone that does that? Wonder what they look like. Do they make a good living? How do you break into that career?
Back in the days of covered wagons there was no music of this sort. Just think what it was like as you traveled across the prarie.....no music unless someone sang a song or played their guitar. Music must have been more special then. It probably really had depth of meaning. They probably realized that a good song could lift the spirits, or express your inmost hurts, or encourage you to give in to emotions.
The scary thing is to think that should the Lord tarry His coming, someone will be thinking similar thoughts about the archaic way we do things someday!
Ecclesiastes 7:14
"In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him."
Ecclesiates 3:14
"I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before Him."
Yep, that made me think about the fact that the grass and the trees and the flowers and the clouds and the dirt and the rocks and the horses and the dogs.......they are all just the same as the pioneers saw in the covered wagons! AMAZING!
