"That Is Victory"

When you are content with any food,
Any raiment, any climate, any society,
any solitude, any interruption by the will of God---
that is victory!

When your good is evil spoken of,
when your wishes are crossed,
Your taste offended,
Your advice disregarded,
And you take it all in loving silence---
That is victory!

When death and life are both alike to you
through Christ and you can throw all your sufferings
on Jesus---That is victory!


This is an excerpt from a longer writing of Amy Carmichael. Amy was a single
missionary to India many years ago and was the best example of "dying to self" that I know about. I want to be like her. My heart was pricked as I said that. If I immitated Amy I would be less than what is pleasing to God. Only Jesus totally pleased the Father. "He must increase and I must decrease!"
