I just happened to think about this blog the other day. I reread some of my writings and wondered where that person had gone?? I am not the same person I was in 2005. I guess I would have to say that I am quieter.
I used to be very opinionated and didn't mind, in fact, enjoyed arguing the point. I don't do that much anymore. I have learned with age that my opinion is really very unimportant. I have said before that people who try so hard to argue their point are usually people that aren't sure their opinion is right. They are just trying to convince themselves.
I've lived long enough to realize that the foundational things that were taught to me as a child were right then and are still right. They can be trusted only because of the Author!! How that plays out in real life may be very different for different people.
There was a time when if I was visiting with someone I would monopolize the conversation. It made me nervous if there was dead air!! There has been a big change there...I love dead air!!! Maybe it comes from living alone. Whatever it is, I feel no pressure to keep a conversation going anymore.
My life has changed in so many ways. Some things haven't changed. I am still a mother of three. I still go regularly to the same church I have been attending for 29 years. I'm still in the bus ministry. I still love children. I still like to work. I still sing and still like to play the piano.
I am Grammy to three. I love being Grammy to Jude and Emma. Hayden is only a couple of weeks old and he lives in Glen Carbon so I haven't seen him much. I can't wait until he gets a little older.
I am teaching the three year old class at our Christian Academy and loving it. This will be my third year. It was a rocky start but I really feel like it is exactly where God wants me. You know children keep you young! (wish that worked on the body as well as the mind!)
I stay so busy with teaching in the mornings and babysitting some days and two days a week I work at the Father Time Clock Shop. On Saturdays I have bus visitation and then spend much time in class preparation. I don't have much time for these "musings and mutterings" that I used to do.
Maleah is getting married in October and we are excited for that. John has finished all his medication and doing very well. Shawn and Jen have joined a church in Glen Carbon and bought a beautiful house there just in time to become parents. Ryan is now employed full time by the church. He is teaching Bible and PE and coaching plus his other duties as youth director. Rena is very busy with her part time work at the beauty shop and others part time work.
Praise the Lord for His mercy and grace in all that He has allowed in our lives for the past 8 years! I never thought I would be doing what I'm doing back then!
